The school value of determination and it has been particularly evident in the experiences of our children over the last week.

For example, guided by our friends at Travelling Light Theatre Company, our Year 3 children have been working on their Play in a Week, The Ancient Ruins. They have shown impressive commitment and determination throughout the process of creating a play from scratch, developing it over five days and producing a brilliant final performance today. As one of our VPPS Passport opportunities Play in a Week has been a long standing and key experience in children's time at our school. Like many of our most ambitious enrichment opportunities, it would not be possible without funding from our brilliant PTFA and all of our school community's support for their fundraising events.

Alongside this, a number of our year groups have been completing assessments in maths, reading, and writing. These assessments provide us with valuable insight into the progress our children are making and enable teaching to be adjusted to focus on the next steps each child needs in their learning. The children have demonstrated determination throughout this period with their growth mindset, willingness to keep trying and using mistakes to improve. They should be very proud of their efforts.

Values Certificates

The children awarded Values Certificates this week were Amelie, Sabine, Reid, Willow, Jacob, Louis, Jasper, Artie, Ciara, Beth, Barna and Toby. Well done all of you!

Year 3 Play in a Week

Year 3 have had an incredible time this week as part of our Play in a Week! From the very start, their enthusiasm, creativity, and teamwork have shone through in everything they’ve done.

The children have been busy bringing their production to life in so many ways. They composed music, stepped confidently into a wide range of roles, and worked collaboratively to create imaginative props and costumes. On top of that, they’ve been dancing their hearts out and rehearsing tirelessly to make the performance truly special. We are so proud of their hard work, dedication, and the joy they’ve brought to the process. It has been a fantastic week full of creativity and confidence-building.

We can’t wait to share the final production with you at our performances on Friday at 2pm and 5pm—it's going to be amazing!

Year 1 Trip to Windmill Hill City Farm

Year 1 had a wonderful day out on Tuesday this week! We walked down to Windmill Hill City Farm and compared it to when we went in Autumn. We learned about all the new growth in the allotments (and even got stuck in with some digging)! The animals were ready to greet us, letting us feed them and meet their brand new arrivals. Thank you to all the grown ups who came along and made it happen, we couldn't have done it without you.

Thank You Riverside Garden Centre

The Green Team were delighted with a delivery of plants and compost in response to letters they wrote to Riverside Garden Centre.

They did a great job adding them to the planters this week to brighten up the playground for people and wildlife

Massive thank you to Riverside for their generosity.

The Caterpillar Chronicles

Last week saw the release of our very first edition of The Caterpillar Chronicles, a school magazine designed by the children for the children.  The school council worked really hard putting this together using the entries provided by children across the school.  Thank you to those families who bought a copy after school last week and this week.  If you have missed out, Miss Mullen has a few spare copies you can purchase from her for 50p.

We are already thinking ahead to our next edition in May.  If children would like to add something to the next edition (jokes, comics, book reviews, days out reviews, poems etc) it can either be handed to their school council rep or emailed to victoriaparkp@victoriapark.co.uk
