Values Certificate Winners

For this final week of term we have been celebrating all of our school values. The following children have won our Values Certificates for showing these throughout this term at school. Well done all of you!

Agnes and Anna

Dara and Toby

Ciara and Haroun

Lexie and Thomas

Ruby and Marwa

Anayah and Otto

Year 2 Geography Trip

The sun was shining as Year 2 went on a walk around Victoria Park for part of our Geography unit. We were looking out for human features (things that have been built or put there by a person) and physical features (things that are formed by nature). We spotted lots of examples of each and enjoyed some great views of Bristol from various look-out points.

Sports Team Round Up

Over 4 weeks, some Year 5 children participated in the Ashton Park School Sports Partnership Tag Rugby tournament. The teams were a mixture of experienced and new players to the sport. The improvement over the duration was fantastic to see with some excellent tries being scored and brilliant tagging. All of the children played fantastically and demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and teamwork across the entire 4 weeks. In the final week, one team won their pitch while the other team came second in theirs.

The Year 5/6 girls' football team have participated in two events this term: a festival (arranged through Ashton Park School Sports Partnership) and a tournament through the English Schools' Football Association. The girls have played some excellent football and scored lots of amazing goals. They have shown great team spirit, sharing the goalkeeping duties and encouraging each other. They will only continue to improve with training which is starting for them next term!

The Year 5/6 football team played their first tournament of the year this week. They competed in the English Schools' Football Association 7-a-side tournament at Clifton College managing to reach the semi-final where they unfortunately lost 1-0 to eventual winners Elmlea. The boys played some excellent football throughout the majority of the tournament and battled well against some very strong teams. A great start to the year as they look to build on the success of last year!

Harvest collection

A massive Thank You to those of you who were able to donate food to our Harvest food collection.  We will be delivering this to the Julian Trust today (Friday) and we are sure they will be overwhelmed with your generosity.  Well done also to school council for helping to organise this.

Attendance and Punctuality

We had 2 classes with 100% attendance again last week which is fab, well done to Maple and Bay class.

Our whole school attendance has also gone up to 96.4%.  This is great news!  Our target this year is to be above National Average which for last academic year was 94.5% and we were slightly below at 94.2%

A gentle reminder that school starts at 8:45am.  The gates are open at 8:40am and it is really important that children are on time so they don't miss out on valuable learning time.

PTFA Holiday Card Fundraiser

The PTFA runs a holiday card fundraiser featuring your child's design that can be printed on cards, tea towels, mugs and more. The children have made some lovely designs and order forms with your child's design have gone home this week. Please consider purchasing cards or other items as this raises funds for the PTFA to support activities in the School.

All orders are placed with the card company directly online and directions are provided on the card sent home with your child. The deadline for placing orders is Wednesday the 6th November. This will allow time for cards and other items to be delivered to the School and sent home with your child before the winter break. If you have any questions about placing an order online, please contact the PTFA by email at victoriapark.ptfa@gmail.com
