Continued Internet Access Issues

Thank you everybody for your understanding today whilst we had no internet access. The issue is out of our control as it is related to the wider system operated by Bristol Council. Unfortunately for us, this affects all of our systems connected to wifi and the internet, including our phones. We have a number of mitigations and "work arounds" in place but it does mean our communication channels are not operating as normal.

At the moment, we have been advised that it is unlikely that this will be resolved before Monday.

Assuming this will be the case on Monday, please:

- Email any absences and alternative pick ups to victoriaparkp@victoriaparkprimary.co.uk as early as possible. 

- Note that if we need to contact you, we will continue to contact you via phone calls, which will come from a withheld number.

- The rest of the school day will operate as usual. 

We will update you when we have more information. We will put information in the emergency pop up on the home page of our website as well as emailing parents and carers via Arbour. This next update will be on Sunday evening.

This week in assembly, we talked about International Day of Democracy to explore with the children how decisions are made in the UK and within our own school. We explained to the children how they could be elected to be their class representative on our school council and be part of the decision making process for improving our school. We also looked at how the process to become a school councilor works and what a prospective candidate would need to do if they wanted to put themselves forward for the role. School Council Election Day will be held in October when each class will vote for their representative for the year. 

Values Certificates

Values certificate recipients this week were Arlo, Oxley, Skye, Mabel, Rory, Idris, Basel, Nikodem, Laurie, Ava, Noah and Grayson. Well done all of you!

Attendance and Punctuality

Last week saw a rise in attendance, keep it up. Please remember school starts at 8:45am and whilst the gates may stay open until 8:50am, that is already 5 minutes late to school.

Art on the Hill

It is less than a month till BS3’s premier art event. On Saturday 3rd of October we are once again opening our doors to show off the fantastic art of our pupil community. 

Over the next few weeks children from reception to Year 6 will be hard at work combining creativity, determination and team work to produce something fantastic for the crowds. With the support of Lucy and Beth from ArtLab the sky is the limit and I hope you are looking forward to seeing the final pieces as much as we are. 

Next week,  the workshops will be:

• Monday 28th: Year 4 and Reception
• Tuesday 29th: Year 6 and Year 1

The children are likely to be using a lot of paint (and other interesting mediums) on some large surfaces during the workshops. On the day your child is doing their workshop, to prevent uniforms being covered in paint, they can bring in some old clothes (that you don't mind getting messy) to change into during the workshop.

Reporting Injuries 

If your child sustains an injury at home that school needs to be aware of please ensure you are reporting it to the main office. This will ensure we can make any adjustments your child might need and inform key members of staff. 

Second-Hand Uniform Team: Volunteers Needed 

Did you know that the VPPS Second-hand Uniform Team does much more than help families access affordable school uniform?

So far, we’ve saved over 161kg of jumpers from landfill, and our uniform sales contribute around £1,000 each year towards enrichment activities for our children.

We’d love a few more volunteers to join the team. The commitment is small, but makes a big difference. We need help with:

• Washing and labelling donated uniform: around two loads of washing per term

• Uniform sales: around one hour, roughly once a term
