Friday 20th March 2026

In our whole school assembly this week we learnt about Neurodiversity Celebration Week. During the assembly, we learnt about what neurodiversity is and reflected on the strengths and talents of people who think and learn differently. We also used it as reminder of the importance of being kind and accepting everyone in our school community.

Eid Mubarak!

Warmest wishes to all families in our school community who are celebrating Eid today and over the weekend. We hope you have a joyful celebration and that this special occasion brings you peace and the chance to spend quality time with your loved ones.

Comic Relief

Thank you to everyone who dressed up and helped us raise money for Comic Relief today.  There were some absolutely fantastic outfits in school today and we heard lots of laughter around the corridors with children and staff admiring each others outfits.

At lunchtime today the School Council hosted a joke telling competition and we had a great laugh sitting in the sunshine listening to some very funny jokes.  Well done to all the children who stood up in front of the audience and told a joke.

Mulberry Class Trip to the Farm

Mulberry had an amazing time at Windmill Hill City Farm this week.

We spent the morning learning all about what grows on the farm and smelling, tasting and touching lots of different plants. We did some digging and watering and then chopped and grated some vegetables and made a delicious stir-fry.

In the afternoon, we got to meet and feed some of the animals. We discovered that cows have very big, long, wet tongues!! We saw week-old lambs and held some guineapigs. The sun shone all day and we had a brilliant time!

Year 4 City Hall Trip

This Thursday, Year 4 travelled all the way into town to take part in a debate at City Hall. The debate took place in the council chambers and the topic was 'All primary schools should limit their use of technology to one hour a day to reduce energy consumption'.

The event was overseen by Bristol's own Lord Mayor who was very impressed with the insightful arguments made and the thoughtful consideration of the crowd. In the end pupils voted against the motion, so it seems technology is here to stay in our classrooms. A great big congratulations to the speakers for demonstrating some fantastic skills. Well done to the entire year for taking part in the democratic process and a great big thank you to the parents who helped make it happen.

We can all look forward to a time when our pupils become the thoughtful and hardworking leaders of our society.

Year 5 & 6 Swimming Gala

On Monday, children from Year 5 and 6 took part in a swimming gala at Hengrove Leisure Centre. Competing against six other schools, they participated in a range of individual and relay races, with points contributing to an overall team score. It was fantastic to see such determination and teamwork on display throughout the event. Well done to all those who took part!

Rocksteady Concerts

Today, pupils rocked out at the Rocksteady concerts in the main hall! They wowed their audience with some virtuoso playing and showed amazing teamwork to deliver incredible performances. Well done!

Drama After School Club Performance

Year 3 and 4 drama club put on their wonderful performance of 'The Witching Hour' this week. The children have been working hard for two whole terms; creating the concept, developing the script and staging it themselves. We were lucky enough to have a full house to watch on Monday afternoon. Thank you to all the families who helped children with their lines. In term 5 and 6 the Year 5 and 6 drama club will start where the next batch of thespians will create something magical!
