Friday 15th May 2026

This week in assembly we found out about Mental Health Awareness Week. The focus this year is on taking small daily steps to boost our own and each other's wellbeing. To help us think about this, we used one of our Lyfta Storyworlds to visit Hanna in Finland who works for the scenery workshop at Finland's Royal Opera. Her story included lots of small examples of the small daily steps she takes, such as being active, embracing nature, pursing hobbies, talking with friends and stopping to notice positive things. We also reflected on how we could apply some of these ideas into our own lives and at school.

Congratulations to this week's recipients of Values Certificates, who were Jana, Felix, Rafi, Elizabeth, Josh, Summer, Will, Elliott, Nadifo and "The whole of Year 6".

Attendance and Punctuality

We are still looking to improve the number of children arriving on time to school.  School starts at 8:45am.  If you are coming through the gate at 8:50am you are already 5 minutes late so please think about whether it is possible to leave home 5 minutes earlier.  Please do everything you can to ensure children are in school every day on time.  This really does make a huge difference to our school and children's learning.

The classes with the best attendance last week were:

1st      Willow    99.17%
2ndElder     99.11%
3rdMulberry            98.71%

The most improved class last week was:

Mulberry +8.02%

The classes with the least number of late marks last week were:

1stBirchNo lates!!!
2ndWillow, Bay and Lime2 marks
3rdMulberry and Maple3 marks

Well done Birch class, it has been ages since we had a week with a class where no one was late to school!

Year 6 SATs

Well done to our brilliant Year 6 children on completing SATs week. They have all worked incredibly hard to make sure they were ready for this challenge and were a credit to themselves in they way they went about doing the series of tests. We are very proud of them and our Year 6 team who have prepared and supported the children both before and during SATs week.

Year 5 Camp

The Year 5 campers arrived back from Longtown just after school today. Tired but extremely satisfied with their exploits, the children have spent the last three days canoeing, caving, orienteering, fire making, down mine-shafts and mountain walking. The group were brilliant ambassadors for Victoria Park. Thank you to Mr Marshall, Miss Martin, Miss Hibberd, Mrs Walker, Mrs Pearce and Mr Burge for giving the children this experience.

Following the success of our first edition of The Caterpillar Chronicles, we are keen to release a second edition.  We would love it if children would like to submit something to go in the magazine.  It could be:

  • A comic strip
  • A poem
  • A story
  • A joke
  • A book review
  • A review of a place in the local area for others to visit
  • A puzzle
  • A write up about a local sports team.
  • Events in the community.

Entries can be submitted by hand or emailed to victoriaparkp@victoriaparkprimary.co.uk (put School Magazine in the subject line of the email.)  Make sure your child puts their name and class on their entry so we can credit them in the magazine.

Entries need to be submitted by 3rd June
