Pupil Premium

The Government introduced the Pupil Premium Grant in April 2011. This grant, which is additional to main school funding, is used to address underlying inequalities between children eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) and their peers from wealthier families.

Schools can decide how the Pupil Premium is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility. At Victoria Park we use it for a range of academic, pastoral and enrichment purposes to support pupils from low income families. The school's pupil premium lead, senior leadership team and governing body monitor the impact of the pupil premium spending. Each year we publish a statement which details how we spend this funding.

As part of the government's package of funding to support education recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic, it announced an additional one-off recovery premium. The recovery premium provides additional funding for state-funded schools in the 2021-22 academic year. This funding aims to build on existing the pupil premium allocation and is included in the our pupil premium statement for this year.
