It is the time of year when we begin to prepare the children for their transition to the new year groups they will be in from September. 

You should have all received a letter today letting you know who your child's new teacher will be next year. If your child is currently in Reception, Year 2 or Year 4 you will have also received new class lists for next year. 

Then:

• On Monday 6th July, children will meet their new class teacher during our 'moving up' morning.
• On Wednesday 15th July, children will spend a further morning with their new class teacher during our second 'moving up' morning.
• Some additional transition activities are also planned so children get to know their key adults for the year ahead. Teachers also have dedicated staff meeting time to share transition information with each other.
• On Wednesday 15th July, we will also hold an open classroom event so parents and carers can come into school to meet their child's next teacher (and see the classrooms). This will be a brief informal opportunity to come into school from 3:30pm to 4:00pm.

If you have any questions about your child's transition to their new year group, please speak their current class teacher.

Values Certificates

This week, the children who have been awarded Values Certificates were Ahmed, Ralph, Tomek, Bailey, Amal, Charley, Sienna, Eyra, Alice, Eli and the Year 4 Base Campers.

Attendance and Punctuality

Last week was a bit of an odd one for attendance with the unexpected school closure and some extremely hot weather.  We saw one of our lowest weeks for attendance but we are hopeful this will improve this week now the weather has cooled down slightly.

Year 4 Base Camp

Our Year 4 pupils had a wonderful time at Base Camp, demonstrating excellent teamwork and determination throughout a range of exciting sporting activities. They also developed valuable life skills by learning to cook some delicious dishes and expressed their creativity during an inspiring art workshop. 

Magnolia Class Trip to Watercress Farm

This week, Magnolia class had fun at Watercress Farm. It was a lovely day for climbing, exploring and splashing. We even found a frog! 

The Big Summer Sing at the Bristol Beacon

On Wednesday evening, the Key Stage 2 choir performed at the annual 'Big Summer Sing' at the Bristol Beacon. They rehearsed during the day and then sang their hearts out to a packed audience. They did themselves and the school so proud. Well done!

The Big Summer Sing

The sound of singing has filled every corner of the school this week, as pupils rehearse for our end of year Big Summer Sing. Remember you can come and join us at 1.45pm in the middle playground on Tuesday 14th July. The gates will open at 1.40pm and will close at 1.50pm on Atlas Road and will remain locked until the end of the performance at 2.45pm.

Bristol Cathedral Songbirds

Following it’s successful first year, Songbirds, Bristol Cathedral’s junior choir, is looking forward to welcoming new singers in September. Songbirds is open to any child who will be starting in years 3 or 4 in September. Sessions take place on Monday afternoons from 4.15pm -5.15pm. Each session involves warmups, games, story time, learning a piece that is sung in a service, and, most importantly, biscuits. We work towards performing at a service at the end of each term, which last year included the Family Carol Service in December, and at Choral Evensong on Easter Day.
