Our value of the week has been Kindness. In our assemblies this week we have been thinking about what it is and how kindness underpins everything we do in school. Teachers have been spotting children showing this value in school this week. Our Values Certificate winners this week were:
- Lottie and Robyn
- Anna and Matilda
- Artie and Evie
- Noah and Millie
- Sofiane and Shane
-Mikolej and Elsa
Well done all of you!
Sport Round Up
Wednesday was a busy day for sports at Victoria Park. On Wednesday morning, a group of children from KS2 took part in an inclusive "Try-it" festival arranged by Ashton Park School Sports Partnership. The children had a fun-filled morning taking part in a range of different sports including curling, long jump and speed bounce. They all showed fantastic determination to try new sports and improve their personal bests.
Ashton Gate Stadium Visit
On Wednesday afternoon, Year 5 had the opportunity to visit Ashton Gate for a P.E. lesson, stadium tour and workshop highlighting football's work to promote inclusion in sport. The stadium concourse was the venue for the P.E. lesson, with the children encouraged to decide which sport they wished to play (lots of football!) and then organise themselves into teams on their pitches. The Robins Foundation coaches led the children on a tour of the stadium where they learned a little about Bristol City's history. During the tour, they got to sit in the executive boxes, the dugouts and home dressing room where they took part in the workshop. All of the children represented the school fantastically and had a brilliant afternoon.
PTFA Collections for the Winter Fair
The PTFA are collecting donations for some of the Winter Fair stalls starting next week. Please know that there is no obligation to donate to all (or any) of these. We appreciate anything that you are able to give.
There will be volunteers in the playgrounds on these dates collecting these items but you can donate any of these things to the office on a date that suits you (up to the 6th December).
Important Information Regarding School Meal Bookings
The essential update is now complete and you are able to book and make payment for school dinners in the usual way.
Polite Notice: Office Capacity and Bringing Items into School
Recently the office have been spending a lot of time delivering lunch boxes, water bottles, swimming kits, coats, musical instruments etc that have been brought into the office during the morning. Please be mindful to give these items to your children to bring into school with them. Many thanks
School Nurse Drop-in
Just a reminder that our school nurses are hosting a drop in session on Tuesday 3rd December in the Community room on playground 2. They will be there from 8:45am when you bring your child to school. The school nursing team are really helpful and knowledgeable and can support you with a range of concerns including anxiety, behaviour, bed-wetting, toilet training, sleep and eating habits.
Dress-up Days Costume Recycling and Reuse
We'd love any outfits you have grown out of! We are working on setting up a costume hub for our school community to reuse costumes from our school dress-up days e.g World Book Day, Victorian Day, Earth Day. Often costumes are just used once or twice so we hope to give new homes to them, save people having to buy or make things and reduce our impact on the environment.
It's Year 2's Victorian Day next Friday 6th December so if you have any flat caps or aprons hanging around from years gone by, we'd love to use them! Please send any donations to the office or to Mrs Walker in Mulberry Class. We'll let you know when this is up and running.
Thank you Eco-Warrior Phebe for this brilliant idea!
Attendance and Punctuality
There has been a lot of absence from school this week due to various different bugs and chickenpox doing the rounds. Whilst we want children to be in school, it is important that they are well enough. The NHS have produced a handy guide for parents about absence from school due to illness which can be found here: https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/is-my-child-too-ill-for-school/
Just a reminder, we are able to administer antibiotics and calpol/paracetamol if children require it to enable them to be in school if you complete a form at the office.
