It has been another successful school year at VPPS. Thank you to all of our families for your continued support and involvement in our school. This is what makes this such a special community for us all.

We have spent the day celebrating the year in a number of different ways.

We had our Year 6 Leaver's Assembly this morning in which the children reviewed all of their seven years at the school. There was not a dry eye in the hall as the children regaled their parents and carers with their memories and achievements over their time with us.

This afternoon, we also held our Whole-School end of year Celebration Assembly in which we reviewed the year and said thank you to all of the members of staff who are moving on at the end of this year. 

During this assembly, we watched a short film of school life over the last year. It was reminder and a celebration of the huge number of opportunities and events our children have been involved in again this year. 

We have also now received the outcomes from the Year 6 SATs results which are above national averages. This continues a general pattern across the school this year in our statutory outcomes in Early Years, phonics, and the multiplication table check.  

So there really is much to celebrate again at VPPS. Thank you to all of our brilliant children, staff and supportive families for making this such as successful year.

Values Certificates

Congratulations to the Values Certificates winners this week who were Anne, Skye, Fina, Lucy, Maria, Surya, Mohammed, Eli, Ibrahim, Hobie, Noah, Niki, Matilda and Year 6. Well done all of you!

House Competitions

Campbell house had a clean sweep of house competitions this term. Not only did they win the overall competition for Sports Day, they also won the "Old House Cup" as this term's overall winners of the weekly house points competition. 

Year 6 Show

On Monday, Year 6 staged their end of year show, Alice in Wonderland, for their parents and carers at the Cresswell Theatre. All of their hard work and practice over the last few weeks came together and they produced two spectacular performances. They can be very proud of yet another fantastic achievement, in a year of fantastic achievements. Thank you to Miss Godfroy, Miss Bick, Miss Baron and Miss Lockett for preparing the children so thoroughly for their big performance. Thank you also to the Year 6 parents who also got "stuck in" and produced such wonderful scenery and props for the show.    

We are currently have a few different opportunities to join our VPPS team next term. Over the next few days will publish adverts for two teaching assistant roles, lunchtime supervisors and a breakfast club role. These roles will then be advertised throughout the summer.

BIG BS3 Summer Art Competition – Share your world

Calling all young creators aged 4–16 in BS3! This summer, it’s your chance to show everyone what makes your world special in the BIG BS3 Summer Art Competition – and it’s completely FREE to enter!

We want to see your world through artwork, photographs and stories. Tell us about your family and friends, your favourite places, funny moments, amazing adventures, and even your dreams for the future. What makes your world unique?

Age Groups

• KS1 Age 4-7

• KS2 Age 8-11

• KS3 Age 12-16

Creative Categories

• Art: Drawing, Painting & Mixed Media

• Creative Writing: Short Story, Poem, Descriptive Writing

• Mobile Photography

• Additional ‘Special Design Award’ – Slow Fashion Screen Printing Design (KS3 only)

Entries will be judged by an incredible panel of local creatives, including Luke Jerram, Colin Moody, Professor Shawn Sobers, Kate Hazell, Laurie Stansfield, Sean Taylor, Matt Oldfield, Ellen Osborne, Sarah Oxley and Steve Dawson.

Our judges will award winners and runners up for each category, and selected artworks, photos and stories will be showcased in a special Arts Trail Gallery, or screen-printed at the Slow Fashion Fest, at the Southville Centre in September.

Whether you love drawing, writing, taking photos or designing, we can't wait to see your creativity shine!
