Friday 22nd November 2024

Our value of the week has been Curiosity. In our assemblies this week we have been thinking about what it is and how curiosity underpins everything we do in school. Teachers have been spotting children showing this value in school this week. Our Values Certificate winners this week were:

Chase and Finn

Coralie and Zane

Isra and Nura

Elsie and Evan

Sonny and Ezra

Aaliyah and Elliot

Important Information Regarding School Meal Bookings

There will be a temporary disruption to parents' meal bookings next week due to an essential update. You will not be able to make any payments or bookings from Monday 25th November while the update happens. Please ensure that all pre-order meal bookings and payments are made in advance for next week by Sunday 24th November at 8pm. We will inform you later next week once the update is complete. You will not need to take any action and you can continue to use your School Gateway accounts.

Parents' Evenings

This term, parents' evenings for children in KS1 and KS2 will take place on Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th November. This is an opportunity to come into school to see your child(ren)'s books and talk to their teacher about their learning. You should have already received a letter detailing how to book your ten-minute appointment with your child's teacher. Please speak to the school office if you have not received your letter.  For children in Reception classes (Willow and Cherry) your parents' evenings took place last term and you will not be expected to come again in November.

Opportunity to meet with our SENDCo during Parents' Evening

During the upcoming Parents' Evening, should you wish to meet with the SENDCo to discuss any specific concerns or support needs for your child, please contact the school office at your earliest convenience. Our office team will be happy to arrange an appointment for you.

Attendance and Punctuality

A great week for attendance last week with lots of classes scoring in the high 90's.  Thank you!  Next week during parents evenings, class teachers will be speaking to you individually about your child's attendance and will share with you their attendance so far this year.  This is an opportunity to discuss any concerns or worries you might have.

KS1 Dance

Last Wednesday, children from EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2 participated in a dance workshop run by Megane Anche, from Momentum Dance School, a local club based in South Liberty Lane. Each class had a chance to learn and practise a routine combining a range of movement.

Football News

Last Thursday, the Year 3/4 Football team played a tournament at the Imperial Sports Ground. They demonstrated fantastic teamwork and played some great football in all of their matches. They played three matches, winning two and losing one. A great first tournament!

Dodgeball Tournament

As well as a football tournament last Thursday, a group of Year 3 children also participated in a dodgeball tournament at Ashton Park School. They thoroughly enjoyed themselves and represented the school brilliantly.

Year 3 Artwork

Please see the photo of some of the current Year 3s artwork they did last year with local artists which focused on the Victorian era of the area around the school. The wonderful artwork is displayed on the stairwell of The Star and Dove.

PTFA Collections for the Winter Fair

The PTFA are collecting donations for some of the Winter Fair stalls starting next week. Please know that there is no obligation to donate to all (or any) of these. We appreciate anything that you are able to give.

  • Friday 29th November: Donate teddies for the teddy tombola. Pre-loved is fine but please only donate clean, washed teddies.
  • Friday 29th November:   Donate presents for the wrapping room. Unused and in original packaging if it affects the quality of the item. This is an area where kids go in alone to choose a gift for their parents/carers and then get it wrapped up with the help of the staff volunteers.
  • Friday 6th December: Donate cakes for the big day plus any of the above if you've missed those days. Please ensure cakes are labelled with its name and any allergens. It really helps us to have the cake donations the day before so that we don't have to coordinate last minute ones on the day!

There will be volunteers in the playgrounds on these dates collecting these items but you can donate any of these things to the office on a date that suits you (up to the 6th December).
