This week has been national Walk to School Week. So in assembly on Monday we looked at all the benefits of active to travel to school whether this by walking, scooting, wheeling, cycling or parking and striding. We used this as an opportunity to talk about road safety on the streets around our school. We reminded the children that whilst we have road closure scheme around the school at the beginning and end of the school day, some cars and larger vehicles are still allowed to drive on the roads around the school at that time. This means that everybody needs to be just a mindful of looking for traffic on these roads when they travel to and from school.
On Shoesday this week, there also were lots of beautifully decorated shoes to celebrate walking and wheeling to school. And on Wednesday, we had a large number of people come to the Bid Active Travel Breakfast and BikeRegister event before school. Thank you everyone for your efforts to support active travel to school!

Year 4 Egyptian Day
Last week seems like 4000 years ago. At least it did in Year 4, where we had our annual Ancient Egyptian day. Well done to everyone for the fantastic costumes and bringing their best archaeological minds to the challenge of deciphering the mysteries of the Pharaohs. Over the course of the day we wrote in Hieroglyphics, created our own Egyptian monsters, and sent one lucky student to the Egyptian Underworld.
Year 5/6 Football
On Monday, the Year 5/6 football team were invited to play at Ashton Gate Stadium as part of the Robins Foundation and Ashton School Sports Partnership Festival of Football. The team played a number of matches against other schools and performed brilliantly throughout the day. It was a fantastic experience for the children; one they thoroughly deserved after being champions at the Imperial Sports Ground earlier in the year.

Great Bristol Run for VPPS - Smashed It!
Last Sunday parents and carers on the PTFA running team laced up their trainers and completed the running challenges of 10km or the half marathon.
Everyone had a great time running and we’re all so pleased to share that the fundraising pot is just over £3,000!!!
Thank you so much to everyone who donated. This is a great way to support the PTFA raising funds for the school with a donation (and with gift aid the PTFA will get even more!) The fundraiser is still accepting donations if anyone else would like to:
