Thank you again this week for your support as we navigate our way through the hot weather. Unlike a couple of weeks ago, we have not had to consider the implications of a red warning being issued by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA). However, we have had to manage a very hot school site over the last week. We really appreciate your continued co-operation with our measures such as sending children into school wearing sun-cream and hats as well as bringing water bottles. Please can you you continue to do the same next week.

At the moment, we are planning to go ahead with Sports Day on Monday and The Big Sing on Tuesday. 

Sports Day will be at Victoria Park in the usual place. We may move the locations of some of the events as the day goes in order to exploit the shade, but the class timings should remain the same as planned (see below).

We are also trying to make sure the Big Sing can still go ahead on Tuesday afternoon. However, because of the heat we are looking into a change of location because it is far too hot on our playground in the afternoon and the event is too big to hold in the school building.

Our plan is to try to stage it in Victoria Park within the circle of trees located near where we will be doing Sports Day on Monday. It's a bit of a gamble but we think that, whilst the production values may not be quite as high, this will be a much cooler option than holding it on our playground!

To help us to scope out the feasibility of doing this, it would help us to know if there are any of you that might be able to lend us any blankets that children can sit on, gazebo style shelters or even possibly large music speakers that could be used in the park (as we will have no power source there). Please let the school office know by Monday, if you are able to lend us any of these items to use. We will then confirm on Monday afternoon, if we have been able to make the arrangements to move the event to the park.

This week Values Certificates were awarded to Iris, Amelie, Sid, Harper, Isla, Ewan, Anwen, Basel, Willow, Niklas and the Year 6 Base Campers.

Attendance and Punctuality

We are pleased to share that our attendance last week was a much more usual picture.  We remain above National Average for our whole school attendance and we are beginning to see a slow reduction in the number of children arriving late.  Thank you for your continued support with this.

Year 3 Roman Baths 

Last week, Year 3 visited the Roman Baths, where they took part in a range of exciting activities. They created beautiful Roman-style mosaics and stepped into the role of archaeologists, digging to uncover ancient artefacts. In the afternoon, they explored the Roman Baths using audio guides, discovering lots of fascinating facts about the site's history.

Get ‘Back to School’ Uniform Ready!

The last uniform sale this term will be after the Big Summer Sing on Tuesday 14^th July in playground 3 from 3 to 3.30pm

We’ll have all our usual items of logo jumpers, dresses, shorts, skirts.

Garden Showcase 20th July 1:30-3:30. Everyone welcome

As you may know, Y5 have had the privilege of taking part in the Zero Carbon Schools Project this year. As part of this, we have been enhancing the outdoor classroom (outside the art room/where breakfast club drop off is) with the aim of improving it for wildlife. The kids have worked really hard on this, which is why we are going to be hosting a Garden Showcase event on Monday 20th July 1:30-3:30. This will be a chance for the whole school community to celebrate the children's hard work and will include presentations, special guests and an opportunity to see all the new planting. 

Additionally, we have set up a collaborative project on iNaturalist to log observations in the local area. We encourage Y5 students to upload your findings as per the instructions in the email that was sent out earlier in the week. For those in other year groups, please send your photos and locations to us via the office or physically print it out and hand it to a member of the Y5 team. We will then upload them on your behalf.

Art Lab Exhibition

The launch of the Royal British Legion & Art Lab Remembered Heroes exhibition was last night at Circomedia and the project was so well received and there were many compliments about the work the children have created, Ther Lord Mayor, Peaches Golding (Lord Lieutenant) amongst many important representatives of diverse communities in Bristol were in attendance. They should be extremely proud of themselves. If you do have the time to pop in over the weekend Circomedia in St Paul’s is open until 8pm tonight 10th July)  and 11am-5pm Saturday 11th July. (No booking required) The pieces look so exceptional and powerful in this grand setting.

Piano Lessons Avaliable

Piano lessons available through our independent piano teacher, Fiona Prescott. Fiona has been here since 2019 and offers 20/25/30 minute lessons at family friendly prices.
