Welcome back to the summer term - children have come back with a Spring in their step (and in some cases, a good few inches taller) ready for learning! The summer term has so much in store...in assembly children thought about what they are looking forward to in school over the next 12 weeks (including camps, sports day, lessons, and finding out who their next teacher will be). For more details of this term's learning, the curriculum newsletters from class teachers are provided below.
Reminder - Dress up on Monday for Earth Day!
Monday 22nd April is VPPS Earth Day. We will be celebrating our wonderful planet in school on International Earth Day. Our amazing Green Team would love for children to wear blue or green clothes or dress up as their favourite animal on Monday 22nd April. In the spirit of sustainability, please don't buy anything new. You could borrow from a friend, upcycle some clothes or make your own outfit from things you have at home. We'll be learning about everything from hedgehogs to hydroelectricity!
Curriculum Newsletters
Here are this term's curriculum newsletters. These are written by class teachers and give an overview of the learning that will be taking place this term in your child's class.
Staffing News
After 24 years at Victoria Park, Lorraine Dunn will be retiring at the end of this academic year. Mrs Dunn will have taught most children in school, because she mainly works in Reception classes. Mrs Dunn will stay with us until the summer holidays and will be missed by us all when she leaves.
Coffee and Chat for Parents of Pupils with SEND
A few parents have organised a coffee morning for parents of pupils with SEND, taking place in The Brunel, St John's Lane, on Friday 26th April. Come from 9am (after drop off) until about 10.30am.
"This will be another informal get together, a chance for parents of children with SEND, either with or without an EHCP, to meet each other with no fixed agenda other than to try and positively support each other, and hopefully feel less alone in our parenting of our SEND kids."
There's no need to book, please just turn up if you can make it.
Do you want to reduce the risk of your bike being stolen?
Our partners at Bristol City Council Active Travel are offering a FREE bike marking service in the school playground on Friday 26th April 2024. Security marking and registering on BikeRegister means you could be reunited with your bike in the event of it being stolen.
The event will run from 3.15pm – 4.30pm in playground 3.
This offer is available for adults' bikes and Y6 children's bikes. (Bike marking is not offered to younger children because of the length of time bikes are likely to be kept.)
Simply complete the consent form and return it to school as soon as possible and bring your bike along to the event clearly labelled.
Other Information
The children and adults in Reception have watched chicks hatching this week. It's amazing to see them emerging from their shells and transforming into fluffy bundles of joy before our eyes. It's all part of their learning about life cycles. Mrs Lucas managed to catch the moment one chick hatched in this short video. We hope you have a lovely weekend!
