Safer Internet Day
This week we have been learning about how to keep safe online in conjunction with Safer Internet Day which was on Tuesday. The theme this year was "Smart tech, safe choices." We were lucky to have Unique Voice join us in school on Monday and they delivered an assembly to EYFS and Key Stage 1 and also an assembly to Key Stage 2 around the themes of staying safe online. In both assemblies, we explored different scenarios children may encounter when using technology and what to do to keep them safe. The key message the children learnt was "Stop, think, ask," encouraging them to share their worries with a trusted adult. We also had a parent workshop as well for parents to hear about how to open up conversations with your child about online safety. Thank you to those who were able to attend, we hope to be able to share a recording of the meeting with all families after half term.

The Caterpillar Chronicles
The school council have been busy collecting entries for their first school magazine ready for publishing next term. We are extending the deadline til Monday 23rd February to give children half term to think of anything they would like to enter. It can be a joke, a poem, a short story, a comic strip, a book recommendation, an activity recommendation, a puzzle etc.
Year 6 Poetry Slam
Today, Year 6 took part in an exciting Poetry Slam event at Ashton Gate Primary. The children enjoyed a high-energy morning compered by a professional poet, Jonny FluffyPunk, and watched all the Year 6 classes involved. A poetry slam is a lively competition where poets perform their original poems to an audience and a panel of judges - with plenty of cheering and clapping along the way! Four groups from our school entered the competition, performing: A Totally Normal Tuesday, The Goings on Inside a House, Last Day of School and Animals of the Land and Sea. Every group gave an amazing performance and we were thrilled to come second with The Goings on Inside a House. Well done to all our brilliant performers!
Reception and Year 1 Drama Workshop
Reception and Year 1 have been really lucky and had visitors from Perform doing drama workshops with us this week. We were exploring Mrs Tuppence's Magical Toyshop and keeping it safe from the mean Peyton Pixel.
Children have also been sent home with some information if they would like to join the Perform drama clubs.
Year 2 Dance Festival
This week, Year 2 went to Ashton Park School to take part in a dance festival. The children performed their dance routines amazingly well and were a credit to the school. Good job, Year 2!
Lunar New Year
This week in school we have been learning about Lunar New Year. Each class has been learning about the celebration and creating their own pieces of artwork to commemorate the occasion. Keep an eye on the school Instagram for photos of the wonderful work!
World Book Day Costume Swap
World Book Day is on Thursday 5th March.
We will be running a 'Costume Swap' after school on Friday 27th February in Playground 2 where you can pick up an outfit for free and/or donate your old ones to be reused.
Big thanks to Jeni Lloyd-James for running this event and to our amazing Green Team for their brilliant posters!
PINS Coffee Morning
Our next PINS coffee morning is on Wednesday 25th February 9-10:30, entrance through St Johns Lane Gate. We really encourage any parents of children with SEND or additional needs to attend.
