Friday 19th September 2025

This week in assembly, we talked about International Day of Democracy to explore with the children how decisions are made in the UK and within our own school. We explained to the children how they could be elected to be their class representative on our school council and be part of the decision making process for improving our school. Miss Mullen also explained how the process to become a school councilor works and what a prospective candidate would need to do if they wanted to put themselves forward for the role. Next Tuesday, will be School Council Election Day when each class will vote for their representative for the year.

The School Value this week has been respect and the following children were awarded Values Certificates in assembly today for "being caught" exemplifying this value. Well done, Josh, Nina, Nye, Ada, Keion, Olive, Tilly, Tariro, Manyse, Nadifo, Ubaid and Ahmed.

Years 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 all had ArtLab workshops this week to start to create pieces for the Art on the Hill Exhibition on Saturday 4th October. Guided by Lucy from ArtLab, the children have produced some superb work so far. There is a sneak preview of these year group's work below.

Next week it will be the following year group's turn:

  • Monday 22nd: Year 4 and Year 5
  • Tuesday 23rd: Year 6 and Year 3
  • Thursday 25th: Year 6, Year 3 and Year 4

The children are likely to be using a lot of paint on some large surfaces during the workshops. On the day your child is doing their workshop, to prevent uniforms being covered in paint, they can bring in some old clothes (that you don't mind getting paint on!) to change into during the workshop.

Don't forget, like so many of our extra opportunities in the school, these brilliant workshops have been funded by the VPPS PTFA.

Watercress Farm Visit

This week 10 children from across the school went on a trip to Watercress Farm.  They had a fantastic day looking at nature, splashing in puddles, paddling in the stream and picking berries.  There were smiles all round and the children demonstrated our school values of determination throughout the day overcoming challenges.

Each week we will be sharing our whole school attendance figures with you so you can see how well we are doing.  We will also share the top 3 classes attendance for the previous week and any classes that had all children on time to school everyday.
