Friday 12th December 2025

In our whole school assembly on Monday, we reviewed what different year groups have done so far this year in relation to the Victoria Park Passport of Opportunities.

As you know, at Victoria Park we seek to provide a rich and experiential wider curriculum for our children. We use the 'Victoria Park Passport' to show the experiences we want our children to have during their time at our school. Whilst it is updated and changes from time to time, the basic principle of the Passport remains the same.

In the assembly, different year groups were able to "stamp" different areas of our passport that they have done this year such as visiting museums or farms, meeting a sports personality, collecting for the local foodbank, singing to audiences, collecting money for charity or displaying art in a gallery. Later in the year we will review the passport again in assembly to "stamp" further opportunities we have experienced this year.

The VPPS Passport also includes a number of big key events in our school life (such as Art on the Hill, Play in a Week, or the residential camps we offer) that could only take place through PTFA funding. With that in mind, a big "thank you" to all the PTFA organisers and volunteers who made the Winter Fayre such a success last week and thank you to everyone who attended.

Values Certificate Winners

Well done to all of the winners of Values Certificates this week! They were Sonny, Fred, Ciara, Carmen, Anwen, Magnus, Arlo, Vani, Albie, William, Rowan and Luqmaan.

KS1 Choir Trip

This week, the KS1 choir went to the Spiegeltent in Bristol to perform some winter songs with children from other primary schools. It was a wonderful wintery occasion and the children sang their songs beautifully.

Winter Sing at the Bristol Beacon

This Wednesday the KS2 choir performed at the Winter Sing at the Bristol Beacon. They rehearsed all day at the Beacon, before entertaining well over a thousand people in the evening. They sang 11 songs, from Stevie Wonder to Benjamin Britten. Every choir member did the school proud and it was an incredible event to be a part of! Congratulations everyone!

Piano Recital

In school, children who learn piano with Fiona, one of our piano tutors, took part in a winter recital. Her pupils played wintery piano pieces and brought lovely festive joy to their audience.

Reception Christmas Singing

Children in EYFS loved their Christmas singing on Thursday.  They all dressed up in whatever Christmassy costume they wanted.  We had angels, shepherds, kings, stars and Christmas jumpers. The children sang brilliantly and remembered all the words and actions for the Christmas story they had learned.  It was beautiful!

Rocksteady Concerts

Today, all of the Rocksteady bands rocked the main hall as part of their winter concert. The audience were wowed by the amazing rock and roll skills that all of the children showed.

Attendance and Punctuality

Whole School Attendance (Year to Date)95.93%

Our whole school attendance has dropped below our 96% target and we need everyone's help to get it back up.  We have 5 days left of term 2 and lots of exciting festive events happening for the children to enjoy so lets see if we can get our attendance back above target before we all have a well deserved holiday.

Congratulations to Magnolia class for having the highest attendance in the school for the second week running, a fantastic effort by all the children and parents.

                             Class          Attendance
1stMagnolia98.67%
2ndElder98.57%
3rdHazel98.52%

The class with the most improved attendance last week was:

Most improved class:      Elder      +9.64%

The classes with the no children late to school last week were:

Classes with no lates:          0

This term there have been 312 late marks across the school so far.  We need an extra big push from everyone to reduce our lateness as we have no classes with no late marks this week.  School starts at 8:40, anyone arriving after 8:50 is marked as late.

Rescheduled After School Clubs

All after school clubs that were affected by the industrial action have now been rescheduled. Parents have been emailed with the new dates. If you need to check these new dates they are on the after school clubs page on the school website.

If your child attends Shine after school provision, please can you make sure their class information is correct and up to date. Many thanks
