This week in our whole school assembly we reviewed what we do to create a culture of kindness within the school. We also reminded ourselves what the school lockdown alarm is and what we need to do if it rings. This meant that when we carried out a whole school practice the next day, all of the children followed the procedures really well.
Thank you to all of you who attended Parents' Evening this week. We always have a really high turnout from our parents and carers for these conversations. We really appreciate your engagement with us on these events and hope that your found the time with the class teachers useful and informative about your child's progress so far this year.

Year 5/6 Kids cup tournament
On Monday, children from the Year 5/6 football team participated in the Kids Cup tournament held at the Imperial Sports Ground. They played excellently throughout the day and demonstrated excellent teamwork and determination. Amongst some tough opposition the team narrowly missed out on qualifying for the quarter final stage. Nevertheless, they thoroughly enjoyed themselves and represented the school brilliantly.

Windmill Hill City Farm Christmas challenge
This year, we're aiming to raise £13,000 to set up a new weekly nurture group and run 22 sessions for 12 children aged 7-11 per session. We'll also use the money raised to take care of the farm and gardens so that the group sessions can run. We only have one week to reach our target. The Christmas Challenge campaign runs from midday on Tuesday 2nd December until midday on Tuesday 9th December and all donations will be doubled by our three match funders - Dandara Living, Vattenfall and Reed Foundation. Give local children a chance to grow – Big Give
Windmill Hill City Farm is in one of the 20% most deprived areas of England. Local children are experiencing a range of challenges, whether that’s a lack of access to green space, difficult living circumstances, language barriers, trauma or struggles learning at school. Some children need more support than others so that they don’t fall behind. Many need extra space and time to connect to each other and nature to thrive. Our nurture groups offer a familiar, safe space for local children to slow down and enjoy being in nature. Whether planting, painting or caring for animals, each activity helps children express themselves, connect with others and experience life outside their comfort zone. We work with local schools such as yours to offer free places to children who need them most.
Demand is growing rapidly and the impact of these nurture groups on children's lives is clear -
“I like to come to farm club after a busy day of school because you can just relax here.” Child
“My son is a child that struggles at school and finds it quite difficult. The Nurture Club gives him a real boost and opportunity to shine.” Parent
“Many of the children that come to the nurture club have experienced trauma or adverse experiences in their live. Being able to come to a safe and positive place like the farm is invaluable for these children.” Deputy Head
