Friday 24th November 2023

This week in our values assembly, the children learned about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, by looking at this excellent book of illustrations called "We are all born free".

With so much reported daily about conflict around the world, we thought about our school values, and reflected on how a peaceful approach to problem solving is always best. Your children may be curious about what's going on, and they may ask questions. These resources from UNICEF and Save the Children can be very helpful for parents and carers.

Light Up School Learning

Over the last two years, we were involved with "Light Up School Learning" - a project with our long-term partners at Travelling Light Theatre Company. This film summarises the successes and learning from the project, featuring some of our wonderful pupils. It's a feel-good watch lasting about 5 minutes. Travelling Light Theatre Company will be returning to Victoria Park Primary School in the new year to work with Year 3 for Play in a Week!

PTFA Donations - Reminder

Tuesday 28th November: Donate bottles for the bottle tombola. Any type of bottle will do: bubble bath, soft or alcoholic drinks, a nice olive oil! In line with school policy please don't donate any energy drinks.

Parents' Evening

If you wish to speak with our SENDCo during parents evening, please contact the school office who will be able to arrange this for you.
You may wish to discuss:

  • Any emerging needs for your child
  • Questions around the SEND system in Bristol
  • Your child's current provision

Mrs Stirzaker will be available on Wednesday evening (29th November).

Meet the Governors

In response to your feedback on the most recent parent and carer survey, the Local Governing Body (LGB) will be using the school newsletter to introduce themselves each week. The Chair of Governors is Dan Foster:

Dan says: "I moved from Pebrokeshire to Bristol in 2003 and automatically fell in love with the city, its diversity, and culture, so I decided to stay. After completing my degree in Sociology at UWE, I began my career in HR, which has given me the opportunity to work across both consultancy and in-house, as well as across multiple industry sectors. My HR specialism includes recruitment, talent management, diversity & inclusion, and mental health. Working for an organisation that has such strong values and promotes human dignity, as well as myself being passionate about social inclusion and creating a fair society, I'm really pleased to chair the LGB for the school and give back to my local community."
