This week's newsletter contains important information about staffing changes for next year, transition dates for new classes and important upcoming events in Term 6.

Staffing Updates - September Changes

September is often a time for change in schools. This year, we have staff moving on and staff joining us.

Congratulations to Mrs Shuker who will be the new Deputy Headteacher at Sefton Park Primary School from September 2023. Also with a new role, Mrs Casling will be making a move to become a lecturer for Bristol Robins Foundation starting in September. Mr Kelly has decided to look for his next job after the summer. Miss Hindes will also be moving on and looking for her next role in teaching. Mrs Rackham will be moving on having taught in Year 1 since Easter and across the school all year. Finally, Miss Datta has decided to move on from VPPS after the summer holidays. We wish them all the best of luck and we know their legacy will be felt for years to come.

This means we have new teachers joining us in September. Miss Barrington is a new teacher currently working in North Bristol, Mr Marshall is joining us following a successful year at Stoke Park Primary School (another CST primary), Mr Dyer is an experienced teacher working in South Bristol and Miss Bick is an experienced teacher joining us from Merchant's Primary School. We are looking forward to working with the new team, and they will be coming in to meet the children soon (see more information about this below).

Finally for this week, we are delighted to let you know that Mrs Jackson has been appointed to a new role in school; she will be our Behaviour and Pastoral Support Assistant next year. Well done Mrs Jackson!

Watch this space - next week we will share news of more new staff joining the team.

Next Year's Classes

Occasionally we need to mix up the classes as they move up though the school. This year we have decided to keep all pupil groups the same.
We have designed a long handover process to support children in moving from one teacher to the next, so that they have opportunities before the summer holidays to visit their new classroom, learn with their new teacher and feel excited about the year ahead.

Vancancy - Admin Assistant

Are you friendly, approachable and happy to help others? Do you enjoy working closely with others and being part of a team? Are you able to juggle the demands of a busy office? Do you care about the needs of pupils and staff? If so, we want to hear from you!

We are looking for a School Receptionist to join a hard-working team, committed to supporting the school. This role is fixed term for one year, 32.5 hours per week, term time only, plus INSET days.

This is an exciting opportunity, working in the heart of the school. Sports Day

This year's sports day will be on Monday 3rd July. We will use Victoria Park and each year group will take part at the following times:

  • Reception at 9:15am-10:00am
  • Year 1, Year 2 & Year 3 at 10:15am-11:45am
  • Year 4, Year 5 & Year 6 at 1:30pm-3:00pm

We would love for you to come and join us to watch, if you can.

(In the event of bad weather, we have set aside Tuesday 4th July for our back-up day. If the weather is bad on both days, we will cancel the event.)

Summer "Big Sing"

Another date to set aside in your diaries is our end of year "Big Sing", now a much loved annual event. Come and join us in the middle playground on Monday 17th July from 2pm to see the children perform in their year groups and as a whole school! The picture above is from our first ever "Big Sing" in 2019.

Eid Celebration Update

At our Eid celebration we raised £593. Thank you for your contributions to this fantastic event. We will be donating £293 to UNICEF and ring fencing £300 for events to promote diversity and inclusion next year!

Summer Footwear

In hot weather, children are allowed to wear sandals in school if they wish. However, these must have a secure back strap across the heel to prevent them slipping off. Flip flops and Crocs are not safe for school because they easily slip off and have led to accidents in the past.
