Friday 13th October 2023

Welcome to our weekly newsletter. Our school value this week was Respect, and we looked again at the purpose and foundation of Black History Month. Children were reminded of the meaning of democracy, protected characteristics, and the UN rights of a child. We then heard about the successes of Ava Duverney, the award-winning film director, who said "Be passionate and move forwards with gusto every single hour of every single day until you reach your goal!".

Secondary School Admissions

For those of you applying for a secondary school place, remember the deadline for your online application in 31st October 2023. You will need to select three schools in order of preference. If you need help applying, or want to ask any questions before you do so, please come and speak to Miss Mullen or Mrs Brown in the office. Click here to go to the form on the Bristol City Council Website.

Harvest Collection

Reminder - this year we will continue to support The Matthew Tree Project with our annual Harvest-time collection in school. Please bring donations of food in tins or packets, as well as toiletries. The Matthew Tree Project provides a food bank service and support to empower people who have fallen into crisis, for whatever reason, to rebuild their lives and create a better, healthier, happier future. Children can bring donations into school with them, and we have a collection point in each hall.

Harvest Songs

We hope you can join us next week in the middle playground for our Autumn and Harvest songs. Each performance will last approximately 10 to 15 minutes.

  • Tuesday 17th October at 9:00am for Year 1 and Year 2 - please drop your children off and wait in the middle playground.
  • Tuesday 17th October at 2:45pm Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 - we will open the gates early for you to come in.

Allergies

We have some children in school with severe allergies. While we can never guarantee a nut-free environment in our setting, we do ask that you help us do everything we can together. Please do not send nuts into school, or products containing nuts. This includes peanuts, pine nuts and walnuts. Many thanks for your support.
