Friday 12th May 2023

It has been a busy and fulfilling week in school, with pupils in Year 6 showing their determination and maturity when completing their SATs papers. We're really proud of everyone for how they applied a growth mindset and embraced the challenge! Also this week, pupils in year 5 have been on residential camp to Longtown Education Centre in Herefordshire. From high ropes, caving and gorge walking, to mountain hiking and orienteering; every pupil found something new to enjoy and challenge themselves with. Thank you to every adult who went with the children, and every adult who helped in school - we are so proud to offer a range of residential experiences across KS2 throughout the year.

Triathalon Success

Another group who have shown amazing determination (and raised money for charity too!) is our KS2 triathalon competitors. Last weekend, they took part in the Schools Triathalon at Clifton College in a number of teams. We are so proud that so many teams from Victoria Park Primary School decided to take part!

  • Toby, Leo, Leo and Elliot from Year 4 competed as a team and worked really hard, showing great team work. They all completed the challenge and came 42nd out of 93. They had a great time and hope to compete again next year. They have raised £672 plus £120.50 gift aid. Funds will be shared between Restless Development and The Matthew Tree.

  • The “Hawthorn Hotshots” (AKA Evie, Joshua, Bea and Oskar) did an absolutely fantastic job for their first ever triathlon. They showed amazing team work and determination. They placed 40 out of 111 teams in their age group, which included year 5 and year 6 teams. They also raised a fantastic £465 for the charity Restless Development.

  • Eleanor, Jack, Joe and Charley from Year 3 came 44th out of 93 teams - a great place for their first ever triathalon and possibly the youngest team at the event!

  • The year 4 team 'Pig Dudes' who took part in the School's Triathlon comprised Gracie, Henry, Felix and Harrison. They worked so hard as a team and had a wonderful time, as well as raising £383 for Restless Development.

You can see from the smiles in these photographs just how much fun was had and the pride beaming from the children’s faces!
