Friday 26th January 2024

The night sky was illuminated with stars, the moon, clouds and the sun on Wednesday evening as children from Year 4 took part in our VPPS Lantern Walk in Victoria Park. The children made individual lanterns and collaborated on three large lanterns as part of their workshops in school. Wednesday evening saw a break in the rain and wind, providing the perfect backdrop for our celebration of all the children's hard work! Thank you to the PTFA for funding our workshops, to Amy our workshop lead and expert lantern maker, and to all the parents and carers who came along to help out and join in the parade. Here are a few photographs of the walk and the workshops.

Bikeability

On Monday this week, a group of children from Years 3 and 4 took a trip to Bristol Cycling Centre to learn to ride on a range of different cycle types. Everyone had a great time and worked well with the instructors. Here are some photos from the day. Well done to everyone for showing the determination to learn to ride!

RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch - this weekend!

Join the world's biggest garden wildlife survey! Spend an hour this weekend watching for birds on your patch. It could be your garden or in the park. It's a really important survey to help scientists see how our bird populations are doing. Last year over half a million people took part in Big Garden Birdwatch 2023, counting a whopping 9.1 million birds! Let's help them make it even more this year. Mrs Walker would love to know what you spot! More information and downloadable digital guides can be found here.

This week in our values assembly, Mr Gunner talked to the children about our Culture of Kindness at Victoria Park Primary School. You might be interested to watch this video called "Kindness Boomerang" and talk about the different small acts of kindness you see. We hope you have a lovely weekend!

Kindness Boomerang - "One Day"

Watch as the camera tracks an act of kindness as its passed from one individual to the next and manages to boomerang back to the person who set it into motion.
