Friday 21st July 2023

To quote this year's staff leavers song:

"Time flies by when you're working round here,
Can't believe it's the end of the year."

So another academic year comes to an end, and yesterday we reflected on all the fantastic experiences the children have had since September. We hope that you enjoyed reading your child's end of year report last week and talking about learning successes and highlights of the year. Thank you for joining us on Monday to celebrate with song at our Big Summer Sing!

Year 6 pupils impressed us this week with their leavers' assembly, and looked very smart in school yesterday in their brand new VPPS hoodies. We hope you take all the memories and school values with you to your various secondary schools.

"Meet the Teacher" mornings were a great success over the last few weeks and it was fantastic to see children familiarising themselves with their new classrooms and adults. We hope children are excited about moving up to the next year group after the summer holidays.

Reception Art Sharing Event

Thank you to Reception parents and carers who came into school for the last open classroom on Tuesday. It was a lovely way to celebrate the children's journey across the year by handing out their writing books, art portfolios and even having a go at a few of the art techniques they have used to create their art projects.

Parent and Carer Survey

If you have not already done so, please take this opportunity to complete this year's CST survey for parents and carers. Today is the last day to respond! Click here to complete the survey.

Piano Success!

Edgar in Year 6 has been awarded a high Distinction for his Grade 2 Piano exam (he also achieved a Distinction in his Grade 1). He scored 95/100 marks with the examiner describing his piano playing as very "colourful and articulate". Edgar has been working hard with his piano teacher Fiona for many years, and this success is richly deserved.

Attendance

This week, we have celebrated Beech class winning the best attendance for term 6 and Hazel class for the class with the least late marks this term. Well done to both classes. Magnolia class were delighted to be awarded the best overall attendance for the whole year with 96.4% and they were rewarded with an end of term ice-cream party. We understand it's not always possible for children to attend school every day due to illness or medical appointments and as a school we aim for 96% or above wherever possible. We do not as a rule celebrate 100% for this reason, however, we have 18 children in school who have managed to attend school every day this academic year - well done to them!

Our overall attendance for this academic year was 95.1%, just shy of our 96% target. Hopefully we can hit that 96% target next academic year.

School Uniform

In September, we want to ensure that all children are following our uniform policy, especially in relation to PE kits. Please find the uniform expectations on our school website here: www.victoriaparkprimary.co.uk/school-uniform/

There is also information about how to purchase second hand uniform that is available through the PTFA. If you receive Free School Meals, you should have received an email from Miss Mullen inviting you to school in the holidays to collect some uniform.

Emergency Contact

During the Summer holidays the school email will not be monitored. If you have a Safeguarding emergency that the school needs to know about before September please email safeguarding@victoriaparkprimary.co.uk as this will be monitored weekly throughout the holidays. We will only respond to emails that are urgent through this account.

Have a fantastic summer break! Children will return to school on Monday 4th September 2023.
