Year 4

A message from your teachers

Hello Year 4!

Welcome back to our home learning page! We hope you have all had a fantastic half term and enjoyed lots of time outdoors in the glorious weather. We've got an exciting term planned for you with more than one enquiry topic! We will start the term exploring food from around the world, with a very exciting homework project (check the enquiry tab to find out more), and end the term with some more science! We hope that you are ready for some fun learning this term and we can't wait to see more pictures of your home learning. Please keep the pictures coming and send them to the email address below.

Congratulations to Spruce class for winning the battle of the bands on TT Rock Stars over the half term.

Certificates for the top three contributors in each class will be emailed out this week! Well done everyone for taking part!

If you missed my announcement before half term, here are the results from last term's battle of the bands.

Congratulations to Magnolia and another well done to those of you who received a certificate!

We have had a number of requests from parents for an idea of what a weekly timetable looks like at school. An adapted weekly home learning timetable is shown below. We must stress that this is very much a suggested home learning timetable. We understand that everybody is approaching home learning in different ways so please do not feel like you have to restructure your day in line with this one.

On a typical day at school, we would do maths, literacy and reading in the morning. However, we have suggested reading in the afternoon on the timetable.

Extra resources!

While you are leaning from home, it is important that you have lots of play time too so don't forget to take breaks from your learning.

We are collecting lots of ideas for things that you can do at home to help you keep fit, get creative and be mindful.

  • Being mindful - you could join in with a cosmic yoga session here or check out 'Go Noodle' for mindful videos here
  • Reading - there are lots of fantastic audio books available for free. You could spend some time relaxing and listening to a good book here. Your teachers will be doing this too!

Here are some websites which are currently offering free ebooks to download. Take a look and pick one if you’ve finished your current book.

  • PE - don't forget that Joe Wicks is doing daily PE lessons at 9am. You can join in live or save it for the afternoon.
