Week beginning 29th June

Here's some things you could try at home this week:

* Read some poems together. This might be one of your favourite nursery rhymes or from a book you have at home. Here is a link to one of my favourite poetry books. It’s called Commotion in the Ocean and has lots of poems about different sea creatures. While you read, can you spot if any words that rhyme?

Commotion In The Ocean by Giles Andreae

A delightful collection of short poems about creatures that live under or near the ocean.

You may want to choose one of the poems to act out. Can a family member guess which animal you are?

Here are some nursery rhymes you could read together...

* How many words can you think of that describe water? Where do you see it? What does it sound like? What does it feel like? What is it used for? What can you do with it? Write down as many words as you can think of.

* Make your own pictures about water. You could use bubble wrap and crayons, a mix of washing up liquid and paint (use a straw to blow into the paint mix then put your paper on top), anything around your house that is blue! Alternatively you could make a picture using water. You could use a large paintbrush, a spray bottle or water balloons! It is completely up to you.

* Using all this information you have about water, have a go at writing your own poem about water. There is a great water poem here for inspiration...

You can use some of the words you thought of when you described water. You can use a this template to help or do it your own way.
