Friday 9th October 2020

Welcome to this week’s newsletter. If you've ever fancied working here at Victoria Park Primary School, details of our vacancies are included below.

Food Bank Collection

Whilst we will be unable to celebrate Harvest Festival in the usual way this year, we would like to support local food banks with a collection of donations from the community. Over the next two weeks, please bring in donations of the following items:

  • Dried food in packets
  • Tinned food
  • Toiletries

Donations can be placed on a table outside the community room in the middle playground. With our one-way system, everyone will walk past the table. (Needless to say, we will isolate the donations for at least 72 hours before passing them on.)

Photograph Permission

So far we have received 230 responses to our request for updated photograph/video permission.  With 420 pupils in school, this is just over half.  Thank you if you have already expressed your preferences. However, we need a response for every pupil in school.  If you have not done so yet, please click the link below and choose "yes" or "no" - completing the form should take less than one minute.  We will not need to ask you again unless your preferences change.

Here's the form -

Work at Victoria Park Primary School

We currently have vacancies on our lunchtime play team. Jobs are advertised on the CST website and Eteach.com (click here to go to the vacancies page) for three different roles: play team lead, senior lunchtime supervisors and lunchtime supervisors. Please take a look at the job adverts for more information, and pass this information on to anyone who you feel may be interested.

School Photos

Children will have their individual school photographs taken on the last day of term (Friday 23rd October).  Following feedback about the quality of last year's photographs, we are using a new company called Jefferson's.  They have provided us with information about their covid-secure operations and we are satisfied that they will be able to take individual photographs of pupils with appropriate risk control measures in place.  This year, however, we will not be able to offer any sibling photographs.

Apply for a Secondary school place

Parents and carers of pupils currently in Year 6 should apply for a secondary school place before 31st October 2020. Click here to go to the admissions page to complete your application.

News from our PTFA

Friends of Victoria Park Primary School

Did you know that as a parent, guardian or carer of a pupil at Victoria Park Primary School, you are automatically a member of the PTFA?
The PTFA, also known as the Friends of Victoria Park Primary School, is run completely by volunteers with a dual aim of raising money and building a community.
The money that we raise goes towards enrichment activities to supplement your children’s school experience. In the past the PTFA has paid for: play in a week, chess lessons, the lantern parade, forest school, wooden playground blocks, instruments, subsidising the year 6 trip and more. If you’d like to have a say in how the money is spent: get involved! See below for details of our next meeting…
PTFA Extraordinary General Meeting
In order to formally elect a new chair and secretary onto the committee, we will be holding a short Extraordinary General Meeting from 8pm-8:30pm on Wed 4 Nov by Zoom (Meeting ID: 859 3696 2321, Passcode: PTFA). All VPPS parents, guardians and carers are encouraged to attend!

The PTFA are pleased to announce that:

  • David Fielding is standing for election as Chair
  • Marie Fannin is standing for election as Secretary

Anyone else who is interested in standing for a committee role should contact victoriapark.ptfa@gmail.com

PTFA Members Survey
Although many of our regular events like our Bonfire Night tent and Winter Fayre will not run this year as normal, we are thinking of creative ways to get together safely and support fun activities for children in the School.

We’d love to hear YOUR views. Please complete this short survey to tell us what sort of events you’d like us to run.

We’ll be reviewing the results of the survey at our next PTFA meeting from 8pm-9pm on Wed 21 Oct by Zoom (Meeting ID: 861 8394 2843, Passcode: PTFA). All VPPS parents, guardians and carers are welcome – we’d love to hear your views!
