Friday 7th January 2022

Welcome back to all pupils, parents and carers. It was wonderful to see you returning to school on Wednesday and we hope that you had a restful break. We would like to wish you a Happy New Year and we know there is plenty to look forward to in 2022.

Unwanted bikes wanted!

Did your child receive a new bike for Christmas? Reception classes are looking for bikes for the children to use in school.  If you have a bike which would be the right size for a 4/5 year old we would love to have it.  This includes pedal bikes and balance bikes. Please contact a member of the Reception team if you can help.

Clothing Donations

We keep a small stock of clothing items in school to support our youngest children in the event they might need to change during the day. If you have used clothing which your children have grown out of, we would be grateful for any donations of the following:

  • Age 4 -5 socks
  • Age 4 - 6 T-shirts, socks and jumpers

Friends of Victoria Park Primary School

Storyboard Trail - Victoria Park PTFA are bringing The Storyboard Walk to Bristol during February Half Term - but we need YOUR help!

The Storyboard Walk is an outdoor, socially distanced adventure. Families use a map to find missing words hidden on Koru Kids boards (see pic). By following the trail, they complete the story. All the missing words are feelings, so it’s a great way to explore emotions with little kids while practicing their reading and writing.

If we can find 25 houses to host a board, Koru Kids will donate £300 to the PTA (plus an extra £12 for each additional house). Please follow this link if you could host a board for 4 weeks in February: - closing date to register to host a board is Fri 14 Jan.

PTFA Meeting – 13 Jan

PTFA meetings are open to anyone with a child at the school who’d like to help us raise money, build community and help enrich our children’s education. Whether you’ve got ideas to share, or you’d just like to listen in, we’d love to see you!

The next meeting will be held on Zoom from 8:00-9:30pm on Thurs 13 Jan. You’ll need the Meeting ID (860 8965 7346) and Passcode (VPPS) to dial in. We’ll be discussing our plans for the forthcoming school disco, considering some fundraising ideas and reviewing other ways to help the school - please come along and share your thoughts!

A lot of people find that January is a tricky month, with less daylight and poor weather. Across Cathedral Schools Trust, a number of staff are taking part in "Red January", an initiative which encourages a small amount of physical exercise each day to beat the "January Blues". Why not take an opportunity this weekend to do something active outdoors? This could be big or small, alone or with others. Anything you do will have a positive impact on your physical and mental wellbeing. Take care, and have a lovely weekend.
