Friday 3rd December 2021

We hope you can make it to our Winter Fayre tomorrow. The PTFA have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to organise this year's event, which will take place outside. However they need your help to run some of the stalls - please see the messages from the PTFA below.

Staff News

After nearly 20 years at Victoria Park Primary School, Mrs Tracy Halford will be leaving us at Christmas. Mrs Halford is moving out of Bristol to live near the sea! We wish her and her family the best of luck and know that she will be missed by everyone here. After Christmas, we are pleased to announce that Mrs Rackham will be returning to Victoria Park to teach Willow class on a Thursday and Friday.

The Winter Fayre is TOMORROW!

(Sat 4th Dec from 11am-3pm).

1) We still need volunteers (as things stand, we’ll be forced to reduce the number of stalls on offer and closing stalls early unless we can get more people along). Please sign-up to volunteer now!

2) Remember to bring cash on the day (and a face mask, of course).

3) Wrap up warm ‘cos it’s all outside!

4) You can still donate cakes on the day – just bring them along by 12:00 and hand them to the refreshment table.

5) Oh yeah…and sign up to volunteer! 😉

Carols in the Playground

You are invited to wrap up warm and join us for Victoria Park Primary School's Carols in the Playground on Friday 10th December at 4:30pm. You are welcome to bring torches, flameless candles and glow in the dark sticks. Please enter through the Atlas Road gate. We would encourage adults to wear a face mask or covering to this event (which may also help to keep your nose warm!).

The final week at basketball saw six determined team members competing for King of the Court. They started really positively, with a draw, after some great defending from May, Leon and Jayden. Game two saw a loss but then the team finished on a high with two wins and some sharp shooting from Micah, Jayden, Alfie and May plus great defending from Kiril and Leon. The results were very close and, finally, VPPS basketball team were awarded with a brilliant bronze. Here are some quotes from the final six team members about their experiences: Leon said "It's been really fun and we've all improved." Alfie and Jayden both reported, "I have enjoyed it and would love to play basketball again." May declares, "I've enjoyed all 3 weeks and, even though some players are out, we've still tried our hardest." Kiril said "I enjoyed it." Micah noted that it was very enjoyable and the team did well passing and defending. Jayden also stated that he had fun playing basketball with all his friends. It was great being back playing against other primary schools plus watching VPPS children improving each week, representing the school and enjoying themselves. Well done everyone.

Our thanks go out to you all for your continued determination and resilience in the face of changing COVID challenges. We are delighted to allow events such as the Winter Fayre and Nativity performances to ahead, by making reasonable adaptations. As the colder days set in, please be aware that we still rely on you being vigilant and keeping children off school if they are unwell. Even seasonal colds and coughs seem to be worse this year than before. Take care, and have a lovely weekend. See you at the Winter Fayre!
