Art Week Special Edition

Welcome to a special "Art Week" newsletter.  Last week pupils explored and created their own "Cabinet of Curiosities" which has led to some new amazing displays around school. We wish you were able to come in and take a look - but because you can't we are bringing the art to you. Scroll down for videos and photographs of our artwork from each year group.  Also this week, an update from our PTFA and lots of interesting activities for the whole family.

Trousers

Do you have any pairs of school trousers you no longer need? We would welcome donations in school, especially in smaller sizes (4 to 5).

Name labelling

Please remember to label every item of uniform with your child's name (and class if possible). The easiest way to do this is with a biro or ball point pen, on the label.  This is especially important at the moment as we are unable to allow parents and carers into school to look through lost property.

PTFA News

The PTFA (also known as Friends of Victoria Park Primary) brings together parents, carers and friends interested in building our school community and in fundraising to support activities in the school.  We have a WhatsApp group open to all - to join, contact us at victoriapark.ptfa@gmail.com

A few updates:

  • GoFundMe – The PTFA raised an amazing £2623.79 from our summer GoFundMe campaign! We held this campaign in light of the cancellation of our Summer Fayre. Thank you to David Fielding for organising this and to all the parents, carers and friends of Victoria Park who contributed!
  • Second hand uniform shop  – A great success! Thanks to Janet Mills for organising this. The PTFA has earned about £80 so far to help support the School. See the shop's Facebook page for details:

  • Although many of our regular events like our Bonfire Night tent and Winter Fayre will not run this year as normal, we are thinking of creative ways to get together safely and support fun activities for children in the School. Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday, 21 October at 8pm over Zoom, with joining details to follow closer to the date.  ALL WELCOME!

Online Acting Workshops from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School

Bristol Old Vic Theatre School currently has a few places remaining for their upcoming online acting workshop classes, for pupils aged 7-18. Sessions will cover a range of acting and theatre-making techniques including improvisation, clowning, characterisation, physical and collaborative storytelling, devising and script work. Lots more information can be found here:

https://www.oldvic.ac.uk/course/workshop/

As we start to feel more comfortable with the new drop off and collection arrangements, it would be easy to be fooled into a sense of security.  However, your efforts in social distancing on the playgrounds are just as important as ever.  Please take care to leave 2m between yourself and other adults, particularly where the one-way route narrows. Take care and have a lovely weekend.
