Children were excited to meet their new teachers on the first of our Shuffle Up days yesterday. We are pleased to be able to share with you the teacher and support staff structure for next year.

We are currently advertising for a fixed-term Teaching Assistant position to join the Reception team next year. Please click here for more information and to apply.

Science Day

This week pupils in all year groups took part in our VPPS Science Day, learning about famous scientists and solving problems using their scientific skills. Mr Mepsted’s giant brain caused quite a stir as pupils investigated ice, measured trees, plotted results, experimented with soils, measured sound levels, dissolved solutions and made fruit-based batteries! Here is a small selection of photographs from the day.

Parent and Carer Survey Reminder

Thank you for filling in our parent and carer survey; we have had around 150 responses so far. If you have not yet had a chance, the survey remains open until Monday next week. Please click here to give us your feedback.

Whole School Storytelling Day

You may remember that we postponed our celebration of World Book Day until a time when everyone was back in school. Our Whole School Storytelling Day will be next Wednesday 7th July. Children may dress up as a character from a book or, alternatively, a costume closely linked with nature. This is because we are lucky enough to have a visitor for the day working with each year group, focusing on a folktale called 'The Dream Makers'.  Each year group will follow a story trail in the school grounds and engage in activities based on the story through art, storytelling and written activities. Please don't worry about elaborate costumes; a simple mask, coloured clothes, face painting or ears can all be good options!

Author Visit – Ruth Drury

Year 1 had an exciting zoom call with an author called Ruth Drury last week, who is actually Benaiah's aunt and used to come to our school when she was a child.  Her book was all about pants!  She read us 'Too Many Pants' which is a story all about feelings.  It was great to then talk about our own feelings.  You can find out about her books on the attached flyer and if you buy her new book 'Introducing Sherman' you can get 'Too Many Pants' for half price. Just put both in the basket and use the code "Sherman".

Summer Holiday Activities

We have received lots of emails in school about summer holiday activities you may be interested in. There are a range of flyers below for you to have a look at.

Please stay safe as you continue to enjoy the outdoors. Local residents and staff have noticed that some children in the area are riding bicycles and scooters without a helmet. We will talk about this in next week's assembly, and would appreciate your support with reinforcing the message at home. Have a lovely weekend.
