Friday 28th May 2021

Welcome to our final newsletter of the term. There's plenty to read in this week's edition including details of activities to keep you busy over half term...

Moose

We are pleased to confirm that Moose Club will be reopening at Victoria Park Primary School from Term 6, Monday 7th June. Parents will receive email communications from Moose club to advise when the booking system will be open. This will be at a specified time and date which will be included in the email. Initially there will be a limit on the number of places whilst they adapt to the new premises. From 21st June, additional spaces will be available. Please contact the Moose team directly with any queries on mooseplayscheme@hotmail.co.uk or 07305 083381.

Park and Stride

Please remember you can use our Park and Stride location if you need to drive to school. This is a safe and agreed parking location you can use if you have no alternative to driving, but it keeps traffic away from our local streets. The address for the site is The Brunel Pub, 315 St John's Lane, Bedminster, BS3 5AZ. It’s only a 6 minute walk to school down St John’s Lane, or if you prefer to use quieter roads you can choose Kensal Avenue.

Please use pedestrian crossings to get over St John’s Lane, there are two to choose from: either close to the pub by Mark Richard Insurance or next to our school. We are really grateful to The Brunel, who have kindly agreed to let our families use their car park for this purpose.

Contact tracing over half term

As before, we still have a duty over half term to inform you of confirmed COVID cases within the school community, if you are identified as a close contact and need to isolate. Remember to use the dedicated email address to let us know of any positive test results over the next 9 days:

PSHE

Earlier this week, we emailed you with an overview of the six PSHE lessons which will be taught in school next term. By providing this information to you, we hope that you will be able to talk to your children - if you wish to - about their learning each week. There are only three lessons in total from which pupils can be automatically withdrawn, if a parent or carer requests it (one lesson in year 4, one lesson in year 5 and one lesson in year 6). These are indicated on the document too. Click below to view the document.

Ashton Gate Football

A group of 27 children enjoyed a fantastic day of football on Monday at Ashton Gate Stadium courtesy of Bristol Robins Foundation. We took 3 teams; Year 5, Year 4&6 girls and Year 6 boys. Each team played with determination, resilience and a huge sense of pride to be representing Victoria Park at such an iconic local venue. Year 5 won 5 games and lost 3, Year 6 won 3, lost 3 and drew 1 whilst the girls were undefeated winning or drawing every game. Following lunch, when we watched, cheered and encouraged other teams, we were taken on a tour of the stadium where we enjoyed the comfy seats and view from the directors box, checked out the changing rooms and ice bath and enjoyed a behind the scenes look at Ashton Gate. This was our first sports trip for a long long time and we know the children enjoyed it as much as Mrs Casling and Mr Kellow! They took lots of photos on the day, so if your child attended and you would like a copy, please email the PE team at PE@victoriaparkprimary.co.uk
