Friday 26th March 2021

April showers came a little early today, but with Easter around the corner we have been talking together with the children about the fresh start we now have in school. Staff have been working hard to help children reconnect and settle, with some fantastic learning behaviours on show in every year group. There may be tentative steps towards a relaxation of restrictions after this weekend, and we hope to receive updated guidance about any changes we can introduce in school. In the meantime your children are settled and happy, ready to learn and embracing new challenges. We hope you have enjoyed engaging with our "Growth Mindset" learning at home; next week we will turn our values focus to Gratitude and all we have to be thankful for.

Personal, Social and Health Education

Last term, we consulted with all parents and carers about our revised PSHE policy. The new policy is now adopted and can be viewed on the "Policies" page of our website. This year, the "Relationships" element of PSHE became statutory, which means parents/carers can no longer opt for their children to sit out of these lessons. We feel it's really important that all parents/carers are aware of the lesson content; all of the lesson details and learning intentions for Term 5 Jigsaw Lessons are provided in the document below. Knowing what the children are being taught in school will enable you to continue the conversations at home, and continue to work with us as partners in your child's education. We will be writing to you separately about Term 6 PSHE, which includes sex education, and ways you can engage with us to view the lesson content before it is taught in school.

Massive Summer Raffle

We’re eagerly following government announcements to see whether we’re going to be able to run an event this summer – watch this space…

…in the meantime, we’re hatching plans for a MASSIVE summer online raffle! So, if you work for a business that might be willing to donate a prize, please let us know by sending an e-mail to victoriapark.ptfa@gmail.com – in return we’ll be able to offer our undying gratitude and some free advertising on our social media channels! Thank you.

Regular Giving Scheme

Thank you to everyone who’s already signed up to the PTFA’s regular giving scheme. If you’d like to make a small gift to contribute to the work of the Friends of Victoria Park Association, you can make a one-off or regular donation here: https://cafdonate.cafonline.org/15362
You can give us much or as little as you like: even a regular gift of just £2/month would really help during these difficult times. Every penny goes towards supporting the school: supplementing their work by boosting the school budget for memorable experiences such as theatre performances, "play-in-a-week", forest school resources, school trips, IT for homework club, and much more.

City of Bristol Swimming Club

CoB Swimming Club is currently looking for the next generation of swimming talent. They are a multi discipline club - Competitive Swimming, Artistic & Water Polo -  based at Hengrove Leisure Centre, with some of the best facilities in Bristol including a 50m pool. Click the flyer below for details of their April trials.

Whitehouse Street Development

If you would like to take part in the consultation about this development, please click here. The website contains an online survey and a map to gather views on what the local community would like to see as part of the development to create a community manifesto. This stage of gathering thoughts, ideas and comments for the manifesto is due to finish in early April.

Remember to set your clocks one hour forward this weekend. It's an hour less in bed, but summer is coming! We hope you have a lovely weekend.
