Friday 26th February 2021

Welcome back to Term 4! Spring is in the air and there is a feeling of anticipation about the return to school on Monday 8th March. Please look out for our emails and letters next week with some important reminders about how school will operate, including changes to the one-way system in the playgrounds and which gates to use. It has been a great start to the term, and this newsletter contains some happy news about a baby and a new member of staff, as well as ways you can help with local surveys and consultations, and our weekly updates from the PTFA.

Baby news

Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Bliss who will soon be welcoming a new baby into their family! Mr Bliss will be off school for a few weeks now on paternity leave and the children in Year 2 will continue to be taught by Miss Godfroy, Mrs Priddis, Ms Nottage and Mr Kellow during this time. We wish Mr Bliss and his family all the best!

Cherry class teacher

We are delighted to introduce a new teacher for Cherry class, who will be joining the Reception team starting on Thursday next week. Mrs Lucas will be covering for Mrs Culmer while she takes her maternity leave, and so will be Cherry class teacher for the rest of this year until the summer holidays. Mrs Culmer will continue to work from home until the Easter holidays and will still be in touch with the children during that time. We know Mrs Lucas will feel very welcome, and we are excited to be working with somebody new.

Bedminster Green Consultation

The Transport Programme Team at Bristol City Council are interested in your views about their proposed transport improvements and river restoration as part of the Bedminster Green Regeneration. This consultation deadline is the 4th of March, a few weeks away. Your responses will have an impact on opportunities to travel sustainably and focus on safety and security as well as the attractiveness of the local area. With schools due to reopen soon and people's travel behaviour having changed during the pandemic, this is an opportunity to help shape routes to school through Bedminster & Windmill Hill. Walking and Cycling Survey

Here is another survey aimed at improving travel in the area, this time from Bristol City Youth Council’s Environment and Transport board. This one is aimed specifically at children, so please help your child to complete it if they are interested. Survey link:

Bristol City Council is asking children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) and their parents and carers to share your views about the services in Bristol. Your feedback will help to improve SEND services. All those taking part will have the opportunity to be entered into a draw to win one of two £10 ‘Love to Shop’ vouchers that can be spent online or in store at more than 20,000 shops, restaurants and attractions. The surveys have been co-designed with Bristol’s Parent Carer Forum and the Supportive Parents service. Each survey takes about 15 minutes to complete, and they are live until the 5th of March. The results will be published on Bristol’s SEND Local Offer website in the summer term. Visit the website for more information:
