Friday 21st January 2022

Welcome to our weekly newsletter. This week in our Values assembly, pupils were introduced to a new resource to support them resolving minor disagreements with kindness. The "Peaceful Problem Solving" approach has been used in primary schools for many years and empowers children to help themselves and others if and when they fall out. You may see these posters in the playground and around school.

SEND drop in

Our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator (SENDCo) is Mrs Chantelle Stirzaker. Her role in school is to co-ordinate the support and provision that is required for children with additional needs. Mrs Stirzaker is happy to phone, email or meet and discuss any child's additional needs at any time. However to make this process easier for parents we are hosting termly drop in sessions. This term these will take place on Wednesday 2nd February 9-12 and Tuesday 8th 2-4. If you would like to meet with Mrs Stirzaker please contact the school office who will book an appointment for you.

Mobile Phone Mast Refused

We have been informed by a local resident and parent that the proposed 5G mast on St. John's Lane has been refused planning permission. The comments received by residents were taken into consideration. Although the applicant may appeal or make a fresh application, this would be subject to another consultation.

Friends of Victoria Park Primary School

Storyboard Trail - Thank you to everyone who volunteered to host a board for the Koru Kid’s Storyboard Walk. We were inundated with over 50 offers! Sadly, we won’t be able to use every venue, but Koru Kids will be in touch over the next few weeks to confirm the final locations. More details coming soon…

Regular Giving - Several people have asked whether it's possible to set up a regular gift to contribute to the work of the Friends of Victoria Park Association. If you'd like to support us in this way, you can set up a one-off or regular donation here: https://cafdonate.cafonline.org/15359

You can give us much or as little as you like: even a regular gift of just £2/month would really help during these difficult times. Every penny goes towards supporting the school: supplementing their work by funding theatre performances, "play-in-a-week", forest school resources, school trips, and more.

Abel & Cole Good Food Fund - Fancy a delivery of delicious, organic food that raises money for Victoria Park Primary School? Follow the steps below and Abel and Cole will donate £35 over your first 5 deliveries:

  1. Go to abelandcole.co.uk/signup
  2. Choose the box that’s right for you
  3. Enter VICTORIA at the checkout

You’ll even get a FREE cookbook in your first box – so what are you waiting for?

A few weeks ago, we suggested making time to be outside, and the positive impact it can have on our physical and mental wellbeing. This week we are pleased to attach this document called "Survive & Thrive This Winter" which is full of ideas to help you and your family boost your mood, manage challenging thoughts, enjoy the season and find support. Take care and have a lovely weekend.
