The seven chosen charities benefitting from your support are shown below. Children have spent the day counting and calculating, so we will be able to let you know the total amount raised next week.

BBC Radio Bristol - "The Kids v. The News"

Children from Year 4 were visited by James Hanson from BBC Radio Bristol yesterday to record an episode of "The Kids v. The News". The programme was broadcast a few times this morning. The children talked about haggling, what it would be like to be Prime Minister and whether they would like to live in Australia! If you missed it you can listen back using this link:

Other Information

This week we have lots of information sent to us by external organisations. We are happy to include it here because we think you might be interested, but we are not responsible for the content.

Skatepark - here is more information about the Skate Park in Victoria Park, from "Bristol Skatepark Collective".

Let’s give Bristol the skatepark it deserves! After 11 years of neglect, Victoria Park has one shot at revamping its forgotten skatepark. The original park was stage one of a two-stage project, the second of which never happened. Now the park sits virtually unused due to poor design and decaying surface. The cost of an upgraded facility starts at £150K, we have already raised £130,000 and now have 8 weeks to raise the additional £20,000 via our crowdfunded page. The first £7K raised will be fund matched by Sport England and there are loads of rewards on the fundraiser page as a thank you for donations. Wheeled sports have boomed since the pandemic but sadly Bristol is falling behind other local towns and cities in terms of facilities. This is a great opportunity to breathe new life into a sadly neglected space and provide a much-needed facility for thousands of young people in Bristol.

MMR vaccinations - click the document below for information from SIRONA CARE & HEALTH about MMR vaccination sessions being held in the half-term holiday for those children who have not yet received both doses.

Woodcraft Folk - Woodcraft Folk offers a place where children play games and take part in exciting and fun activities allowing them to grow in confidence, learn about the world and start to understand how to value our planet and each other.

We are looking for new members (and volunteers) to join the Woodcraft Folk Pioneers based in Windmill Hill.  The group meets on Thursday evenings during term time. Each week is packed with games, activities and friendship.

Come and join us for a taster evening next Thursday 26th May 2022. We'll play games, get to know each other and everyone will have the chance to make a kite to take home at the end of the evening. The taster evening is at the Quaker Meeting House on Wedmore Vale (see map on eventbrite link below) and is free!

Please book a place for each child attending here:

Hengrove Play Park Free Family Fun Day - this year, Hengrove Play Park is celebrating its 20th anniversary and will be marking the occasion with a free family fun day on Wednesday 1 June, 11:00am to 3:30pm. At the family fun day there will be an entertainment stage hosting puppet shows, bubble artists, party games & magic shows. There will also be a storytelling corner in the amphitheatre, and a free face painting truck by the park entrance. Children are encouraged to wear fancy dress for the family fun day. There will be a prize for the best costume, announced at 1:45pm. Click here for more details.

Triathlon - BADTri Juniors (Bristol and District Triathlon) is a Bristol based junior triathlon club.  The junior section offers high quality coaching to children aged between 8 and 16, from a range of all abilities from beginner to advanced. On July 2nd 2022, we are holding an open event at our training ground (Henbury Leisure Centre), and we would love to invite as many children of all levels to take part in the event. It doesn't matter about the ability or level of the child, it could be an introduction to triathlon, or an opportunity to improve an existing time. Details below.

Kids Summer Dance Class - click below to see the flyer for a new dance class which will be starting on the 7th of June on Tuesdays 4-5pm in the club room above the Langton pub. This street dance club is being run by Keanu, who some children will know from an after school dance club he ran at Victoria Park Primary School last term.

This year, the children across school have been taking part in music lessons with Mrs Vaughan, which focus on singing. We are busily preparing and rehearsing for an end of year "summer sing" performance, details of which will be with you soon. We are really looking forward to coming together again for an opportunity to perform, especially as this has not been possible for the last few years. Have a lovely weekend.
