We were delighted to join in with Odd Socks Day on Monday this week, marking the start of National Anti-Bullying Week. The theme "One Kind Word" is also the title of this year's song and video by Andy and the Odd Socks, featuring pupils from Victoria Park Primary School on the vocal mix and in the video! Why not watch the video right now?

Women's Football at Ashton Gate

Thank you to Bristol Robins Foundation and James Howiantz (Primary Stars Lead Coach) for the complimentary tickets to Bristol City v Blackburn Rovers women's football match at Ashton Gate on Sunday 14th November. Many Victoria Park families took advantage of the offer and enjoyed a memorable day at the stadium with a great 3-0 win for Bristol City. Here is some of the feedback from the day:
Shya said "it has inspired me to go further in my football career."
Joshua and Henry reported that "it was really fun when the women's team scored. This was my first football match and I'd go again. All the fans were mixed together which was good and there was no trouble."
William noted that "the goalies did some good saves."
A parent stated that "the women call for the ball more and aren't afraid to take risks." Another parent shared that "it was such a positive, motivating and influential experience and I’m so glad we had the chance to go."
At Victoria Park Primary School, we are lucky enough to work with Bristol Robins Foundation who are currently providing high quality PE lessons in different year groups, plus supporting staff with their professional development. Thank you for this exciting opportunity - we look forward to many more.

Basketball Report

Week One of a three-week basketball tournament saw seven very excited and motivated children from Year 6 play five fast-paced games. Every pupil showed determination and improved in each session resulting in three wins and two losses. There were some heroic hoops scored by Micah and Jayden, determined defence by May, dynamic dribbling by Kiril and Alfie, plus all-round play by captains Leon and Leonna. We can't wait for next week for more brilliant basketball.

Football Report

Last Friday, over 200 primary school children, including eight from Victoria Park Primary School, took part in the Bristol Robins Foundation EFL Cup. The team won two games and lost two games but showed amazing teamwork and determination. Another school commented that they were surprised to learn this was the first time the group had played together. Captain Thomas reported "I think the team showed great resilience to keep going even if we were losing and I believe that next year we could definitely do well. Overall though, it was lots of fun and I promote it to any people who want to be a part of a team." We can't wait for the Ashton Park Sports Partnership tournaments in Terms 3 & 4 where we hope to build on our successes and have even more fun.
