Friday 17th December 2021

We are really pleased to have held our Festive events this year, including our Winter Fayre, Carols in the Playground, school Christmas lunch and most recently our Nativity performances. The children in Reception and Year 1 classes performed a selection of songs from the Nativity story, as well as some Christmas favourites. As is traditional at Victoria Park Primary School, the children in Year 2 performed the full Nativity play and impressed us all with their confident acting, clear narration and passionate singing. We feel very fortunate to have performed live shows for parents and carers this year, and we thank you for your kind support.

PE with Bristol Robins

Year 4 have enjoyed two terms of football skills training from Simon at Bristol Robins Foundation. These sessions have included professional development opportunities for the Year 4 staff team by watching, asking questions and joining in with the sessions. Year 4 children also enjoyed a tour of Ashton Gate Stadium. The final session included a number of children receiving certificates for showing Primary Stars values which encourage the children to "Be fair, Be ambitious, Be inspiring and Be connected". Well done to all the pupils! Bristol Robins Foundation will be working with Year 3 next term. Thank you Simon for all your hard work and we can't wait to see you in 2022.

12 Online Safety Tips for Children with New Devices

Christmas is almost upon us once again, and soon some lucky children will be excitedly tearing the wrapping off a new mobile phone, tablet or games console. For some of them, it will be the first time they’ve owned a device that connects them to the online world. Even for older children, a new device means new corners of the digital landscape to explore – and unfortunately, new risks to be aware of.

National Online Safety have put together their top tips so that you can guide your young ones in enjoying their new digital gifts safely and responsibly throughout the year to come. In the guide, you'll find tips such as how to turn location settings off, how to discourage device dependency and how to set up parental controls.

Storyboard Trail

Victoria Park PTFA are bringing The Storyboard Walk to Bristol during February Half Term - but we need YOUR help!

The Storyboard Walk is an outdoor, socially distanced adventure. Families use a map to find missing words hidden on Koru Kids boards. By following the trail, they complete the story. All the missing words are feelings, so it’s a great way to explore emotions with little kids while practicing their reading and writing.

If we can find 25 houses to host a board, Koru Kids will donate £300 to the PTA (plus an extra £12 for each additional house). Please follow this link if you could host a board for 4 weeks in February: https://tinyurl.com/StoryboardWalk
