Friday 11th March 2022

Welcome to this week's newsletter. We were delighted to come together in the main hall on Monday for our first whole school assembly in months. While we have been continuing with assemblies on Zoom over the winter, it was great to see everyone gathered together (in real life!) to discuss this week's value of determination.

MacMillan Cake Sale

Freya and Hannah from Year 6 have organised their own cake sale to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support. Here are the details:

When? Tuesday 15th March

Time? 3:15pm until 4:45pm

Where? Atlas Road (opposite the school exit gate)

What? There will be a range of cakes available - please come and show your support!

Year 6 Secondary Places

For pupils in Year 6, you should now be aware of the place your child has been offered as their Secondary School.  We understand that some of you may not have been offered your first or second choices and this can be upsetting.  In your confirmation e-mail you should find information about how to appeal the decision; further information can be found at the appeals section of the Bristol City Council website.

Unfortunately, catchment areas for some of our main feeder schools have meant that you may not have been offered a place at your chosen school.  There are maps available online to show the catchment areas for some of the local schools and this may help you if you decide whether or not to appeal the decision.

The school will do our best to support you through this process and if you would like to discuss this further please email Miss Mullen via the school office and she will assist you with this.

Friday 18th March

A message from School Councillors Suleyman and Ebony-Rose:

For this year's Red Nose Day, we are going to have a cake sale. If you want to, we suggest you wear red and bring £1. We are aiming to raise £400 for charity because there are over 400 pupils at VPPS. Red Nose Day is on Friday 18th March and we really hope you can participate.

We have added a "Red Nose Day" option in the Payments section of School Gateway if you would like to make a donation.

Badgers in Bedminster!

Our local BS3 Wildlife group has had a report from a local resident of a badger running along North Street (near the North Street Standard) one early morning towards the end of February.  There has also been a reported sighting from a local runner:  'I had one running beside me a couple of weeks ago on the quayside in front of Pooles Wharf Court (Hotwells).' So keep your eyes peeled and please report any sightings of urban badgers to the BS3 wildlife group via their webpage:
