Friday 11th February 2022

This week in school we marked "Safer Internet Day" and focused on two of our school values - Curiosity and Respect. Please talk to your children about what they understand by "staying safe online". It's important to recognise that includes using mobile phones as well as computers and tablets. Remember that you or your children can talk to any school adult if you or they have any concerns.

World Book Day - Thursday 3rd March 2022

We will be celebrating our love of reading on World Book Day next term. This takes place on Thursday 3rd March, which is the first Thursday after the half term break. Children can come to school dressed up as character from a book. You don't need to rush out and spend lots of money buying costumes for this; why not try something home-made, use the PTFA Pre-Loved Costume Sale (details below), make a mask, or simply wear your own clothes and bring a copy of your favourite book with you?

Bedtime Story - 4:30pm to 5:00pm - Thursday 3rd March 2022

Also on World Book Day, we will be holding our Bedtime Story event. Children can return to school wearing their pyjamas and pretend it's bedtime for a story telling session in their classrooms. Those attending an after school club on that day can go straight to the Bedtime Story event when their club finishes. (Unfortunately this year, we will not be able to accommodate younger siblings.) Why not bring a favourite teddy bear too? Mr Gunner will be!

Storyboard Trail

In celebration of Spring and Half Term, we are hosting a Storyboard Walk with Koru Kids. It's an outdoor game, story and walk all in one! Children, together with their families, follow the trail to complete the story which helps Marina the Monkey get her balloon back.

It starts on Friday 18 February and runs until 13th March, and it's perfect for families with children aged 3 - 10.

Booklets and maps will be sent home in book bags during the last week of term. Visit www.korukids.co.uk/bristolwalk to find out more.

World Book Day – Pre-Loved Costume Sale – 17 Feb

It’s world book day on 3rd March and children will be invited to come to school dressed as their favourite book character.

Busy parents, never fear: the PTFA has got your back! We’ll be accepting donations of pre-loved world book day costumes at our donation points in the playground from 14 Feb-17 Feb. The costumes will be available to buy (alongside our ever-popular second-hand school uniform shop) in the playground after school on the 17 Feb.

Keeping clothes out of landfill, raising money for the PTFA and helping busy parents save time and money – everyone wins!

WIN Tickets to see Simply Red

The PTFA has been given two guest list passes for the Simply Red Blue Eyed Soul Tour for 24th February at Motorpoint Arena Cardiff, so we’ve decided to raffle them to raise funds for the PTFA.

You can buy tickets online at: www.tinyurl.com/SimplyRedRaffle or bring cash to the school office on Mon, Wed or Fri.

Tickets cost £2.50 each and the funds raised will help the PTFA support the school.

The raffle will close at 11:45pm on Sun 20 Feb 2022, and we’ll notify the winner on 21 Feb.

Other information

Here is another reminder about the half term activities on offer with Bristol Sports Foundation:

The deadline for applying to take part in the Schools Triathlon in Bristol on 8th May has been extended by one week - take a look at the information below:

While this term seems to have flown by, we have achieved so much in school, including our great OFSTED inspection and report. Please remember that next week includes an INSET day, so the last day of term for children is Thursday 17th February.
