Staff News

Our congratulations go to Mrs Shuker, who has taken on a new role as Assistant Headteacher at Whitehall Primary School starting after Christmas. Mrs Shuker will be missed by everyone and has been instrumental in our success and progress as a school over many years.

Christmas Lunch

Next week on Tuesday, we have our school Christmas Lunch. We have finalised our plans to ensure pupils can sit together with their classmates and teachers to enjoy this together. At the request of some children, pupils may wear a Christmas jumper or other festive clothing next week on Tuesday if they would like to! This is additional to the Christmas Jumper Day announced below.

Christmas Jumper Day

On the last day of term (Friday 17th December), we will have a non-uniform day so that children and staff can wear something festive or celebratory. Crack out the Christmas Jumper, or if you don't celebrate Christmas, why not wear something sparkly or celebratory of your choice? Please don't rush out to buy something new for this; our green team would like to remind you that you can reuse, upcycle, borrow, swap, use charity shops or make your own festive offering.

Christmas Cards

Pupils are welcome to bring in and exchange Christmas cards in class this year. (Thankfully, we do not need to repeat last year's procedure with multiple postboxes, 72 hour quarantine for cards, etc.) We also have a Christmas post box which will be put up in school - near Gromit the Dog -  in case children have cards for pupils in other year groups or staff. Please make sure the envelopes are clearly labelled with the full name and class of the recipient so that our Delivery Elves can find the right person.

Pencil Cases

Children do not need to bring their own stationery from home. Please do not send in pencil cases, pens and pencils as these can get lost, damaged or cause distractions. We have lots of school stationery for pupils to use. When children demonstrate excellent and consistent handwriting they earn a pen licence which enables them to write in pen in their exercise books.

Book Amnesty - please return school reading books!

Our stocks are looking particularly low in the Silver and Gold book boxes, so please have a look around and return any school reading books you have at home. The Silver and Gold books are often small chapter books, so may have been tidied away onto your book shelves.

A message from Moose

Dear Parents/Carers,

The Bookings for Term 3 2022 are live as of 7PM Thursday 9th December. Please note that Moose will close at 6PM Thursday 16th December over the Christmas period, and we will be back on Wednesday 5th January. Please keep an eye on our Facebook page for craft activities and extra information.  We hope you have a wonderful Christmas break.

Many thanks,

The Moose Team.

Friends of Victoria Park Primary School

Thank You! A massive thank you to everyone who helped or attended the Winter Fayre last Saturday. We’re still calculating the final figures, but it looks like we’ve raised in excess of £2000! Every penny raised goes towards enriching our children's education: funding those little extras such as theatre performances, "play-in-a-week", forest school resources, school trips, and more.

Storyboard Trail - Victoria Park PTFA are bringing The Storyboard Walk to Bristol during February Half Term - but we need YOUR help!

The Storyboard Walk is an outdoor, socially distanced adventure. Families use a map to find missing words hidden on Koru Kids boards (see pic). By following the trail, they complete the story. All the missing words are feelings, so it’s a great way to explore emotions with little kids while practising their reading and writing.

If we can find 25 houses to host a board, Koru Kids will donate £300 to the PTFA (plus an extra £12 for each additional house). Please follow this link if you could host a board for 4 weeks in February: https://tinyurl.com/StoryboardWalk

Food Bank Gift Donations

The food bank at Victoria Park Baptist Church is accepting donations of new, wrapped toys for families who need them. Gifts should be clearly labelled with whether they are more suitable for a boy/girl/both and the applicable age range. Presents can be dropped at the food bank on Fridays between 10am-12pm.
